Everything you need to know about Micro-blading

A lot of people wonder how to get semi permanent eyebrows without applying any make-up. How does one wake up and roll out of bed with their eyebrows on fleek? Look no further as this is where I will explain the procedure along with all the do's and dont's when it comes to getting your eyebrows permanently coloured.


What is Micro-blading?

Micro-blading is a form of semi-permanent tattooing that involves using tiny fine point needles that helps scratch and deposit pigment simultaneously under your skin



Applicable for:

1. Zero brows

2. Blonde ultra faint brows

3. Loss of eyebrows due to alopecia

4. Or just need a little help filling your arches

After care:

Do not get your brows wet profusely for a week

Do not pick scabs

Do not use any products containing glycolic acid


Micro-blading is a semi permanent tattoo technique used to create the illusion of fuller brows


Procedure takes about 45-60 minutes, ideally


Clients are encouraged for a follow up appointment after 4-6 weeks


Ink fades faster on oily skin


Micro-blading is a type of eye brow architecture


It is a superficial process (only epidermis) and hence it is not permanent and the colour fades within 18 months



Steps:

1. Ask client to get her eyebrows done to a desired shape

2. Numb the area with a local anaesthetic or a topical anaesthetic for 45 minutes

3. Mark the eye brows

4. Show the client to see if they are satisfactory with the shape of the drawn eye brows

5. Begin the needling

6. Let the pigment stay on for 5 minutes

7. Top up appointment after 6-8 weeks


Micro-blading lasts anywhere between 12-18 months, depending on your skin type

12 months for Oily skin


Pre-Care

1. Do not workout 24 hours before procedure

2. No alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before the appointment

3. Avoid sun and tanning for a week prior to the procedure

4. Avoid Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Advil/Ibuprofen 24 hours before the procedure

5. No brow waxing, tinting, micro-dermabrasion or chemical peels one week before

6. Discontinue Retin-A 4 weeks prior

7. No botox around the brow area 2 weeks prior

8. Please note – You will be more sensitive during your menses


Avoid the procedure if you are:

1. Pregnant

2. Nursing

3. Diabetic

4. Viral infections

5. Epilepsy

6. A pace maker or major heart problems

7. Had an organ transplant

8. Tendency towards keloids

9. Seborrheic dermatitis

10. Skin conditions or psoriasis

11. Sick, cold/flu

12. Had botox in the past 2 weeks



After Care:

  1. Use sunscreen regularly after it is fully healed (prevents against fading from the sun)

  2. Avoid Retin-A or Accutane or any other retinol products at least a week before the appointments and 30 days after getting your brows done

  3. Do not wet eyebrows for a week while they heal

  4. Avoid make up in the treated area for at least a week

  5. Wash eye brows with water and Cetaphil, morning and night

  6. Pat dry gently

  7. Do not use cleansers containing acids or exfoliants

  8. Clean pillow case

  9. No picking

  10. No facials, botox or peels for 4 weeks

  11. Avoid exercise for a week

  12. Avoid the sun for a week

  13. Avoid long steamy showers for a week

  14. Avoid swimming for 10 days

  15. Do not wear makeup or use skin care on your brows until they’ve healed
